Hong Kong plane crash – Emirates flight EK9788, a Boeing 747-481SF (TC-ACF) crashed after veering of the runway after landing at HKIA on 20-October-2025. All 4 crew members onboard the aircraft remained safe. Sadly, among two people killed in the ground vehicle that was hit by the aircraft, one died on the spot while the second ground crew died in the hospital.

The aircraft, a Boeing 747-481SF (TC-ACF) was operated by Turkish carrier Air ACT. The aircraft took off from Dubai as Flight EK9788 and was en route for Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA/HKG).

While landing at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), the aircraft veered off the runway 07L after touchdown. The aircraft turned left and struck the sea wall on the side of the runway. A ground vehicle was also hit and was dragged in the water with the aircraft. The aircraft sustained serious damage as the tail of the aircraft detached from the body and the aircraft partially submerged in the water. The nose of the aircraft was stuck at the sea wall.

A Cathay Pacific flight CX851 was also on approach for runway 07L behind the crashed aircraft. The aircraft aborted the approach and and was safely diverted to south runway.

The Hong Kong International Airport had received substantial rain fall during the night which may have caused the reduction of the friction on the runway so the aircraft was not able to stop within the available distance and slipped.
