The U.S. President’s Air Force One

The Air Force One serves as the primary transport for president of USA. Originally based on Boeing 747-200, two aircraft were customized to for US presidential fleet and are in service since 1991. “Air Force One” is the official radio call sign of the aircraft when US president is onboard the aircraft.

The Air Force one, being the the most expansive private jet in the world, contains an office of US president, with secure communication systems, most advance electronic countermeasures systems, and other classified defensive systems to protect the US president, crew and other officials in case of any threat. The aircraft is also equipped with systems to protect from EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) of a nuclear explosion.

The Air Force One can accommodate nearly 70 passengers in addition to a crew of 26.

The Air Force One can fly up to 8000 miles without refueling. The aircraft is also equipped with in flight refueling system giving it unlimited range.

Both aircraft are stationed at Maryland near Washington D.C. and are assigned to Air Mobility Command 89th Airlift wing of US Air Force.

As of May 12, 2025, Qatari Royal Family is gifting an estimated $400 million luxury jumbo jet, a Boeing 747-8 to US President Donald Trump. Once accepted by Donal Trump, it will be upgraded to the same standard as US Air Force One. Donald Trump has announced that he will donate the gifted aircraft to president library once he leaves the office.

Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal al-Saud’s Airbus A380

Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, world’s 15th richest person,  ordered an Airbus A380 in 2007 at an estimated value of $500 million. Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal placed an order for the first ever VIP version of A380 during Dubai Airshow in October 2007.

The flight test version of A380 with tail number 002 was the actual aircraft that was sold . The aircraft was planned to be upgraded with new engines and systems. The upgrade plan included a garage for Prince’s luxury Rolls Royce car, 20 VIP suits, large cabins with king sized beds and luxury bathrooms, a spiral staircase and a stable for horses and camels.

The order was cancelled after global financial crisis of 2008-2009. The aircraft was sold to an undisclosed customer in 2013 but the aircraft is still displayed at Toulouse Blagnac in France as reported by ch-aviation.
